Our Mission

A park at every school.

Our children spend most of their waking lives at school, so let’s surround them with color, birdsong, butterflies, and areas to climb and play.

Elements of the Park

Nature Nurtures

Many peer-reviewed studies have shown that time spent in nature can lead to better physical and mental health:

— Reduced stress
— Improved sleep
— Lower chance of obesity
— Increased focus, mood, and feelings
— Cognitive, social, and emotional gains

Why wouldn’t we make this a part of every child’s everyday life?

Beauty.
Function.
Sustainability.

  • As the old saying goes, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Anyone who’s been in Texas the last few years knows how brutal it’s become. 10 degrees and an inch of ice to 110 degrees and 10 weeks of drought. We can’t fight that. But when we let Texas be Texas things start to work again.

  • Traditional landscaping practices require ongoing maintenance and rely on irrigation and mulch. Ecological landscaping designs landscapes based on the underlying ecology, returning our landscapes to something resembling their original form.

  • With more than 10 times the plant density of planted beds, meadows are naturally weed-resistant and insulate the ground, keeping soil temps low and preventing water loss. Once established they will never need a drop of water or a weed pulled!
